Australians Cutting Out the Middle Man

According to a new plan by the Australian Health Minister, the power to renew the prescriptions for 20 different drugs, including birth-control pills and low-dose statin treatments, should be in the hands of pharmacists. According to the Rudd government, savings in health care visits would be equivalent to putting an additional 350 full-time physicians in the field. The plan is also meant to improve patient adherence by including monitoring programs.
