Knowledge, Pride, Goals & Gifts Deliver 9% Adherence Improvement / 12 months

An innovative year-long study among mainly African American women with hypertension showed that a mix of knowledge, personal pride, goal development, and occasional gifts was successful in improving adherence by 9% over one year.

Lead author Olugbenga Ogedegbe, MD discusses how the intervention group received bi-monthly phone calls and up to 6 thank-you gifts over the course of a year, while both groups received a workbook on hypertension.
