The 7 Barriers to Adherence in Hypertension

Do you take all your medication? Why not? If you thought the person asking you would disagree with you, or would not understand your perspective, would you bother to tell them the truth? Personally, I would probably tell them I forgot. Studies on barriers to adherence are of course important, but until we start spying on patients or giving them polygraphs, results are still highly subjective.
This study, published in The Journal of Clinical Hypertension found that out of over 1430 participants, 28.4% reported difficulties with taking medication. The following graph shows % reported for the top 7 barriers:
