People do not really like talking about it, or admitting it, but drinking does affect our ability to function in an organized way on a day to day basis. This recently published article by Bryson et al., investigated the relationship between drinking and non-adherence in three populations of patients: hyperlipidemia (n=5473), hypoglycemia (n=3468), and hypertension (n=13, 729). Using the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test-Consumption (AUDIT-C) questionnaire, authors found that increasing alcohol misuse was associated with decreasing adherence in both the hypertension and hyperlipidemia populations.
